Hello, I’m Candy (she/they) - your hair & self-care specialist.

I moved from South Africa to Schenectady in 2018. I worked in several different industries but settled into my true calling as a hairstylist when I graduated with Honors in Cutting from Paul Mitchell The School in September 2022. I then leveled up my cutting skills with an intense 18 month Advanced Technical Haircutting Apprenticeship.

I’ve traded in the overstimulating bustle of a busy salon environment for a more intimate setting at Odd Company Hair Salon in Albany. Once a month, I pop up as a guest artist at Creature of Habit Hair Studio in the Catskills.

My passion lies in haircutting of all lengths and textures but I particularly enjoy shags, bobs, bangs, and lived-in shorter cuts. I also love low-maintenance, lived-in color and blonding.

I love the art of doing hair but more than that, I love truly connecting with the folks in my chair. I believe good hair should be accessible which is why I offer gender-free, gratuity-free pricing and sliding scale appointments. I’m also passionate about mutual aid and participate in fundraising efforts as often as possible.

My goal is to offer top tier luxury self-care services to my clients, and to create a safe, inclusive space for them. I value self-affirming care as a form of mental health care and feel honored to have folks place their trust in me to curate the hair that helps them show the most authentic version of who they are to the world.

I aim to create a safe and comfortable environment where we can combine my expertise with your vision and collaborate on your haircut and color to create a look tailored specifically to your unique style and personality. I can’t wait to connect with you and welcome you into my Self-Care Club!
